Improve Your Game With Better Tempo

When you are looking to improve your golf game, you'll find that there are plenty of things that you can think about, but one of the most important things that you can consider is going to be the tempo of your golf swing.  While form is extremely important, you'll find that timing everything just right and making sure that everything occurs when it is supposed to, can be invaluable when it comes to improving your game.

Start Nice and Easy
The first thing that you need to remember is that at first, it is far better to take it slow than to rush it. When you rush your golf swing, you'll find that you are creating habits that it can take months, if not years to break.  When you are looking to get a better golf tempo, you'll find that taking things nice and easy is a great way to start.  One way to take some of the urgency out of it, even when you are practicing, is to swing without a ball in front of you.  Seeing a ball makes you want to hit in, and when you remove the ball, you are freeing yourself to relax and work on your timing.

Take Your Time and Pause at the Top
Another thing that you should think about when you are worrying about your tempo is that you should always pause when your swing reaches the furthest point back from where it is going to go forward.  You will find that if you rush it, you will have a fraction of the power and the strength that you could have.  When you pause at the top of your arc, you are hitting a very natural point in your swing, so pause longer than you think you have to.  It will let your whole body align, and you can also identify if there is anything wrong with your stance at this point.

Stretch Your Way to Better Tempo
When you are looking to improve your golf tempo, you will find that smoothness is the key.  If you are going to be getting your swing up to code, you will find that you simply cannot do it if you are stiff or feeling rickety!  Take some time to do some stretches and warm-ups before you get started.  This can be instrumental when you are looking to make sure that your swing is getting the right amount of work it needs.  Run your body through a series of motions that will mimic your swing before you even step up to the ball.  Remember that golf is a sport that can be surprisingly physically demanding, so make sure that you are up to it.

Improve Your Score With Better Tempo

Getting your golf tempo right is one of the best things that you can do for your game, so invest some time into getting it right; this can mean the difference between a great season and lousy one!
